The Doorway
Guerilla Advertising, UI/UX
Turning to the streets is not a choice; it's a means for survival. 20% of Canada's homeless population are ages 17-24, and The Doorway has made it its mission to work with Calgary's street kids to reintegrate them back into society. Calgarians turn a blind eye to this invisible sector of homelessness, so in order to represent the complexities of life on the streets, we have created a guerrilla installation of past participants' backpacks.
On the streets, a backpack becomes a lifeline for many people. Each rip and tear is a testimony to survival, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of a better tomorrow.
Scan a backpack's QR code or scroll through The Doorway's website to view their previous owner. Take time to learn their stories directly from the source.
